4 more

36 weeks, 27 days, 9th month, 4 more weeks. Unreal.
Dr appointment is coming up on Monday for Strep B test and to get checked while we're there. Weekly appointments after that...wild.

Your baby is gaining about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy hair that covered his body, as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of his first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. Most likely he's in a head-down position. But if he isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying he'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating him from the outside of your belly.

Head down - check. You've been that way for a while, sweet boy. Now, let's hope you will also facing backward too, once it is time to come.

I'm big, hot, achy, often tired, grateful, and excited. Yes, those do all go together. <3

You stay in there a little while longer, sweet boy and keep on growing. I hope you like your little house...it won't be much longer until you have a new one.

I still shake my head that we are here.
Thank you, Lord, for another day.
